On April 25th, the event themed “Smart HZAU, Lead with Wi-Fi 7” was held at HZAU. The experts shared experience on the evolution of ICT infrastructure and digital transformation at universities in Hubei Province regarding the upgrade to Wi-Fi 7, as well as new network technologies such as 2.5G wired access.
Director Fu Jun of Information Technology Center of HZAU remarked that in recent years, the Ministry of Education has been implementing the digital strategies in education, accelerating the transformation in universities. HZAU is actively promoting the construction of “Smart Shishan” and moves faster to enhance the digital transformation and intelligent upgrading in education so as to support for the building of a high-quality education system. In 2023, HZAU signed a comprehensive agreement on technology cooperation with Huawei, which covered fields including digital talents training, Smart Shishan, AI breeding, and building of supercomputing research center. Huawei released Wi-Fi 7 and built the experience zone with HZAU, which will bring fresh insights for universities that are accelerating the construction of information infrastructure, and jointly promote the construction of smarter campuses in Hubei Province.
Yang Li, a solution manager of Huawei Enterprise in Hubei, pointed out in her keynote speech that Huawei has long been deeply involved in smart education in Hubei Province, with the vision to build a education power through innovation. Huawei adheres to innovation, creating intelligent connections, and building a smart campus network with high-quality connections and high intelligence.
Chen Yongxing, a vice president of the Campus Network Domain, Huawei’s Data Communication Product Line, announced the debut of Wi-Fi 7. With the continuous popularity of video conferencing and smart applications, there was an increased demand for bandwidth. People needed greater bandwidth, better concurrency and experience, and enhanced security, which entailed better network products. Therefore, Huawei has released Wi-Fi 7 to improve internet experience.
Wei Naiwen, a chief architect of Education Industry of Data Communication of Huawei, proposed that digital education has become an inevitable requirement for the high-quality development of education. Thus, a stable high-speed campus network was the foundation. Driven by policies, technologies, and business, the technology of Wi-Fi 7 has been mature, and gets to plus multi-gigabit Ethernet (mGE). Huawei is building high-quality multi-gigabit campus networks which form a model of network construction centered on experience and create various scenarios such as teaching, research, management, service, environment, and security, achieving simple operation, ultimate experience, simplified architecture, and rapid access.
Directors and technical staff from universities in Wuhan engaged in-depth discussion. They exchanged views in terms of the challenges of digital transformation in education, successful practices and experience of digital transformation in universities, the advantages of Wi-Fi 7, and the trends of the industry.
After the meeting, the attendees visited the experience zone jointly built by HZAU and Huawei at the Taoyuan Canteen.
