A training program of “Lead Goose” project for management personnel was conducted at HZAU on April 17th. The event was attended by Liu Ruiming, the secretary of the Party Committee of the Human Resources Development Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Li Zhaohu, the president of HZAU, and Chen Zhiyong, the deputy director of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Department of Hubei Province. More than 180 participants, including Vice Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of HZAU Yao Jianglin, project management personnel from various provinces, and managers from institutions involved in the project, attended the meeting.
In his speech, Li Zhaohu warmly welcomed the attendees and emphasized that the “Lead Goose” project was an important initiative to implement the strategy of workforce development in the new era and a crucial approach for universities to fulfill their responsibility of fostering virtuous individuals and promoting agricultural development. He introduced the university’s plans to pool resources for the cultivation of “Lead Goose” and highlighted the valuable guidance provided by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and its Human Resources Development Center, as well as the support from the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Departments of various provinces and the shared experiences of other universities. He expressed hopes that the university’s resources can empower the “Lead Goose,” enabling them to excel and thrive in rural areas.
Chen Zhiyong stated that Hubei Province plays a significant role in promoting rural revitalization and building a strong agricultural nation, as it is an important agricultural production base. He emphasized on the importance of understanding the current situation, clarifying the cultivation path, formulating supportive policies, and intensifying efforts to identify and nurture the “Lead Goose” to promote their further growth. He focused on the implementation and excellent results of the project in Hubei Province and announced plans for upgrading and advancing the cultivation work, contributing to Hubei’s talents developments and providing a model for cultivation.
Expressing gratitude for the meticulous planning by the provincial department and HZAU, Liu Ruiming congratulated on the success of the training program. He presented the four key features of the “Lead Goose” project, including emphasizing quality cultivation and selection, focusing on systematic training, providing comprehensive support, and strengthening market guidance. He reviewed the specific implementation progress of each province in 2023 and outlined the key areas of future implementation and improvement. He called for improvements in tracking effectiveness, moderate scale development, extended exploration of cultivation methods, and enhanced supervision and assessment. He urged everyone to promptly report any difficulties, actively offer ideas and suggestions, and collectively build the “Lead Goose” project into a prestigious brand for rural talents development.
The five-day training program for “Lead Goose” project management personnel includes lectures, workshops, discussions, and practical teaching segments.
